GPLS 728 GENOMIC DATA SCIENCE
Understanding of the basic methods in data science, with application to questions in genomics and genetics. The course will begin with a review of basic programming techniques, including essential data science Python packages. It will develop student’s confidence in programming, especially through reproducible coding skills (e.g. GitHub and Jupyter Notebooks) as well as a wide range of analysis methods. Topics include: machine learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, dimensionality reduction, prediction, regularization, clustering, and overall assessment of algorithms.
