INNO 632 CREATING VALUE IN A VENTURE BASED ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

This course is designed to explore the process of growing and creating enterprise value in a startup venture based upon intellectual property (IP) licensed from a research institution. Topics such as the regulatory landscape, stage-appropriate forms of funding, team building and growth management, and preparing to monetize the venture are elements of this course. While there will be a minimum amount of lecturing, the highlight of each module is the opportunity to hear from subject matter experts, typically in an informal "fireside chat" setting.  This format ensures that the student receives real-time insights into the rapidly evolving world of venture creation. In addition to the faculty lecture and interviews with subject matter experts, this course consists of assigned readings, and a semester-long student analysis of an actual university-based startup.
